The Post Graduate  Certificate and Diploma courses that have been accredited by Leeds Beckett (formerly Leeds Metropolitan) University, PTUK and PTI are now also offered as a 'Play Therapy Summer School' at La Mouline in France.  (This is now in its sixth year). The beautiful, peaceful environment enables students to thoroughly relax during and after the study sessions and exercises.  There is also the attraction of combining a  holiday with your training with a range of local accommodation ranging from £20 per person per night sharing a gite to four star hotels.  A typical local hotel price is £40 per night B&B. There's a nearby simple, clean and friendly camp site and  plenty of  family attraction in the area.

It is strongly recommended that you rent (or share the rental of) a car.  This will make your stay so much more enjoyable through the places and restaurants that you can visit.

EasyJet flights from Gatwick or Bristol to Toulouse can be as low as £28 if you book early.  A number of other budget airlines fly to Toulouse from European cities.

Please note that the course work is very intensive over the 15 days.  We suggest that you don't plan a hectic schedule whilst the course is on.

Where is La Mouline?

Where is La Mouline

La Mouline was built as a small water mill in about 1850. It was burnt down 45 years ago and stood as a ruin for 35 years. The owners have  completed a sympathetic restoration that combines many of the original features with the extensive use of glass to take advantage of the magnificent views.  The Play Therapy Training Centre uses a purpose built air conditioned classroom as a teaching facility when it is very hot or raining or when we are using video or PowerPoint. The shady terrace and many other areas of the grounds and other structures are normally used for the experiential and practical exercises.

The Centre stands in 26 acres bordered by a mill stream, set in the beautiful Tarnaise countryside. The grounds contain a small lake with an island and rowing boat. There is a heated salt water swimming pool for your use until 18:00. Many participants have a short dip before lunch and at 5pm after the teaching. We grow our own vegetables and you will be able to pick fruit that is in season from a selection of over 70 fruit trees.Although the nearest neighbour is a kilometre away La Mouline is only 10 minutes, by car from the charming small town of Realmont which has an excellent supermarket, 5 bakers, 4 butchers, 2 pharmacies a doctor with fluent English and 6 ladies' hairdressers(!)  The beautiful city of Albi, (Toulouse-Lautrec centre), with many hotels, is a 20 minute drive way.

Normally the weather is warm to very hot in July and August although there can be some cool days.  Day temperatures during teaching hours have ranged from 16C to 42C, normally the maximum is 33C and there is usually a pleasant breeze in the afternoon.

Toulouse (Blagnac) airport with budget airline services from many UK and European airports (typically £60 return) but as low as £28 if booked early) is less than an hour away.  Other services, including international flights are available via Amsterdam and Paris.  Book early (ie at least 3 months in advance) to get the low cost deals!  The La Mouline Play Therapy Training Centre is approximately one hour easy drive from the airport.

A second option is to drive.  This is an excellent way of combining your training with a family holiday.  La Mouline is approximately 650 miles from Calais, mostly on the excellent autoroutes.  We suggest that you have one overnight stay en-route.
