Although this course does not provide students with any formal qualifications to allow them to practice, it is very useful to anyone considering undertaking one of our Postgraduate courses or those who would just like to know a little bit more about Play Therapy and its uses. Online Introduction sessions are open to everyone regardless of previous experience or qualifications.
Level 5 Diploma in Developing Emotional Wellbeing in Children and Adolescents – Convergent Practice
The overall purpose of this Diploma course is to empower students to speak knowledgeably with parents, families and other relevant professionals, whilst simultaneously equipping them to use play and creative arts-based interventions to support the emotional well-being of the children and adolescents they work with.
Postgraduate Certificate Courses in Therapeutic Play Skills (Stage I)
The Postgraduate Certificate in Therapeutic Play Skills course is the first part of the programme leading to an MA in Practice Based Play Therapy. This course may also be undertaken as a ‘stand alone’ course. On completion, it allows you to practice as a Certified Practitioner in Therapeutic Play Skills.
Postgraduate Diploma Courses in Play Therapy (Stage II)
Postgraduate Diploma in Play Therapy course is the second part of a programme leading to an MA in Practised Based Play Therapy qualification. The course is 70% experiential in nature and will be specifically rooted in non-directive Play Therapy whilst looking at working with the conscious/unconscious and non-directive/directive in response to the client’s process.
MA in Practice Based Play Therapy (4 years)
MA in Practice based Play Therapy (part time over 4 years)
This course is eligible for Student Finance (UK only) and offers an affordable, all-in-one qualification to become a Play Therapist in the UK (not applicable to other countries).
Post Qualifying Courses
APAC’s post‑qualifying courses are short specialist certificates for therapists already qualified at postgraduate level. They provide accredited training (via Play Therapy UK/PTI) for experienced practitioners to expand or deepen their practice. APAC Post‑Qualifying courses allow qualified play therapists to specialize in clinical supervision, filial coaching (working with parents/carers), or expand to creative arts counselling with different groups, all with accredited recognition and access to supervisory or coaching roles within professional registers:
